Kobe Bryant is walking an unconventional path after retiring from the NBA. According to Angela Doland of Ad Age, he’s the newest pitchman for a Chinese food-delivery startup.
A spot for the brand, Ele.me—which reportedly translates to “Are you hungry?”—features the former Los Angeles Lakers legend getting schooled in table tennis before some food arrives. Then he turns into the Mamba we’ve known.
“Kobe's worth the money spent, no matter how much,” Tomaz Mok, chairman of McCann Worldgroup China, told Doland. He added that he didn’t know how much Bryant was making.
A follow-up ad featuring China's most popular athlete will come in August.
